Thresher Sharks in Lembongan

By Conservation, Underwater Life, Updates
Thresher Sharks

Thresher Shark

The high season (July to October) is normally highlighted by the chance to see the Mola (Sunfish). Though this has been true for this high season, we have also had increased sightings of thresher sharks; another amazing and rare creature!

Thresher sharks have been seen around Lembongan before, but it was a rare occasion and often deep (30 – 40 meters). Through the months of September and October, the chance of seeing a thresher has jumped up dramatically.

These thresher sharks have been spotted shallower than normal, around 20 – 30 meters, cursing by our divers on the north coast of Nusa Penida. Not all the thresher sharks have been spotted that deep. One was spotted during a PADI Discover Scuba Dive and another was spotted during dive 4 of the PADI Open Water course.

Lets take a look at some interesting facts about Threshers

  • How to identity a thresher shark
  • How do thresher sharks hunt
  • Threats to thresher sharks

Welcome to the Team and Indonesian Diving - GhiifariWelcome to the Team Ghifari

Not only did we have an amazing diving week in Lembongan to start September off with a bang, we also would like welcome to the Team – Ghifari, ready to explore Indonesian diving.

Ghifari (A.K.A Gif or Gify) joined our team on the 2nd of September. Originally from West Surabaya, Indonesia, Gif left his home village and moved to Jakarta in 2010 to study. While in Jakarta, Gif completed his university studies in finance and accounting before starting work with an electric company, in the finance department.

It wasn’t long at his new job, that Gify realized that the office life was not really for him. With this, he started to look elsewhere for another opportunity. It was at this time that a friend of his, (who also turned out to be a friend of instructor Bryce’s) pointed Gif in the direction of the Twin Island Dive ad on Facebook. With this, Gif had the chance to explore Indonesian diving.

PADI 5 Star Dive Resort in Lembongan

By PADI, Updates
PADI Dive Resort in LembonganPADI 5 star dive resort in Lembongan and another dive shop, making it twice as easy to find us now!

A few months ago we let you know that we had been officially recognized by PADI when we received our ‘dive centre’ status off PADI. Which allows us to teach PADI courses under the name of Twin Island Dive.

Over the last few months we have been working hard to take our centre to the next level in the PADI system.

Depending on safety, quality, experience, knowledge and facilities, a centre is able to be recognized for the high standards that they are offering to their divers. Much like a PADI diver works their way from open water to advance through experience, knowledge and skills, a dive centre can climb the PADI ladder as well. Read More
