Prerequisites for try diving in Lembongan:

Besides being physically healthy, there are no prerequisites needed for the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program.

The PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) program gives you the chance to try scuba diving in Lembongan for the first time. You do not need to have any experience in diving before, all the information that you will need will be covered in this one day program. You also do not need to be a strong swimmer as you will have a professional instructor by your side throughout the full experience.

Before starting, you will complete some paperwork with your instructor. Within this paperwork, there is a medical form that checks your basic health and to confirm that you are fit to try diving in Lembongan.

How Try Diving in Lembongan Works:

Here at Twin Island Dive Lembongan, we run our PADI Discover Scuba Diving programs over 1 day.

The morning starts with the paperwork, medical form and standard liability forms. Once this is completed, your instructor will cover the basics of diving in a short theory session.

Your instructor will cover:

  • The pressure change from the surface to underwater, due to the weight of water
  • How this pressure change affects our body
  • How to adjust to this changing pressure as we go deeper
  • Hand signals to communicate underwater
  • The equipment we will be using

Once the theory session is completed, you will have the chance to try on the equipment to ensure that all fits comfortably and snug. Then we make our way to our custom built diving boat.

On the boat:

We will run through a short briefing about the boat, where to store things in the dry area and which dive sites we are going to.

From our location in which we leave from, almost all the dive sites around Lembongan, Penida and Ceningan are only 25 minutes away. While we travel to the first dive site, you have the chance to relax and enjoy the scenery.

At the first dive site, your instructor will run through some information about; the dive site, how to get into the water from the boat, swimming techniques and what you are going to do on the dive. Before entering the water, you will have the chance to get a feel for the equipment and have a few breaths through the scuba regulator. Then it is time to roll into the water.

Once in the water, you and your instructor will bob around at the surface. You will take this time to adjust to the equipment and get use to the breathing with your face in the water. When you are comfortable with the breathing, your instructor will take you a little under the water, where you will practices some skills to help you get extra comfortable.

When you are feeling good, your instructor will bring you a little deeper underwater. At this point you are able to explore the dive site, spot some colourful fish and maybe even a turtle or manta ray.

After your first dive, we will relax on the boat, have some lunch, a tea, coffee or water and make our way to the 2nd dive site.

The 2nd dive brings more time to explore, find Nemo and experience try diving in Lembongan.

Which Dive Sites:

The islands of Lembongan, Ceningan and Penida are situated inside the ‘Coral Triangle’ that is recognized as offering the greatest level of marine diversity globally. 3,000 different species of fish live in this area alongside 500 different types of reef building coral.

Tropical reef fish like; surgeon fish, banner fish, snapper and clown fish (Nemo). Manta rays, turtles and moray eels are a common sightings. Our Photo Gallery showcases more of what you can see.

Not only is the choice of dive site about showing you lots of underwater creatures, it is also about safety and your comfort. Dive sites are picked the afternoon before based on the conditions; wind, waves, currents, tides, who is on the boat and what people are wanting to see. We also make sure the dive site is suitable, calm and easy for you to try diving in Lembongan for the first time. All this considered, we are able to pick the best sites for the day.
