Welcome to the Team and Indonesian Diving - GhiifariWelcome to the Team Ghifari

Not only did we have an amazing diving week in Lembongan to start September off with a bang, we also would like welcome to the Team – Ghifari, ready to explore Indonesian diving.

Ghifari (A.K.A Gif or Gify) joined our team on the 2nd of September. Originally from West Surabaya, Indonesia, Gif left his home village and moved to Jakarta in 2010 to study. While in Jakarta, Gif completed his university studies in finance and accounting before starting work with an electric company, in the finance department.

It wasn’t long at his new job, that Gify realized that the office life was not really for him. With this, he started to look elsewhere for another opportunity. It was at this time that a friend of his, (who also turned out to be a friend of instructor Bryce’s) pointed Gif in the direction of the Twin Island Dive ad on Facebook. With this, Gif had the chance to explore Indonesian diving.

The 3 musketeersCaptain Wayan, helping with Indonesian Diving

Up until this point, Twin Island Dive was made up of only 3 staff members; Kipp – the owner, Bryce – instructor and Captain Wayan. These 3 had kept Twin Island Dive ticking over for the last 6 months but it was time for some help and as high season started to pick up.

With the help of Indonesian’s PADI Regional Manager, Tosh, an ad was put up on Facebook, in search of an Indonesian national, looking to live the dream and see what Indonesian diving has to offer. Twin Island Dive was looking for someone that wanted to become a PADI Divemaster. They did not need any diving experience before, as Twin Island Dive would train the right person, from Open Water to Divemaster.

Gif saw this ad and contacted Twin Island Dive for more information. After a few emails and phone conversations, We knew that Gif was the right person for the job. He was keen, excited and eager to start. Gif already had plans to visit his friends in Bali at the end of August, so it was easy for him to pop over to Lembongan and get settled into his new life.

Gif’s New Adventure into Indonesian Diving

Over the last 10 days, Ghifari has been a big help to the team, working closely with Kipp, Bryce and Captain Wayan. Gif has been a part of the every day running of the dive centre and has become another cog in the Twin Island Dive machine.

Gif is out on the boat every day helping with the diving and snorkeling tours. He is there to make sure the guests are comfortable, have had enough to drink and help them into their equipment. Gify has also been learning how to fill the scuba tanks in the correct way and to make sure everyone has 200 bar for their dives.

Gif has also started to go through the theory side of things for his PADI Open Water course, at this rate, he will be in the water in no time, to complete his Open Water certification.

Want to come and meet Gif and see where he is up to with this progress and explore Indonesian diving with us?
